Troubleshooting: No Compatible Template

Recently in the advanced settings of templates we introduced a new feature that lets you control capture types on a template-by-template basis. This means you can now set templates to only work with certain capture types for example, a layout designed for video, boomerang, and GIF, but not for photos.

To keep things running smoothly for your guests, Booth.Events version 1.46.4 will now prevent you from launching an event if there isn’t at least one template that matches each enabled capture type.

Here is an example of the error:

Warning when there is no template for a capture type

Why am I seeing this error?

If you try to launch an event and see an error message, it means that at least one capture type you’ve turned on doesn’t have a corresponding template.

How to fix it

To resolve the issue:

  • Assign a template with exactly one photo area to your event. You can create a new one of your own, or use the "Plain..." public templates.
  • Or, update an existing template. If you have a template with one photo area, check if you disabled the capture type in Settings -> Advanced (in the template editor).
  • Or, remove the capture type that doesn't have a template attached. You can do this on the middle page of event settings in the app.

In order to use Gif, Boomerang, Slow -mo, or video testimonial you must have a template with only one capture area.

Please keep in mind, any edits to existing templates will edit the template across all events it is enabled on.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to launch your event as expected.
