How To: Take Slow-mos & Boomerangs with your USB Camera

Some USB cameras can capture high-frame-rate video for Slow-mos and Boomerangs — for example, the Canon R100 on our Recommended Hardware page.

If you’re using a Canon camera like the R10, you might see an option for HDR video. Our app doesn’t support HDR, so you’ll want to switch it off. Otherwise, your footage will end up looking washed-out with strange lighting and colors. On Canon models, this setting may appear as HDR shooting or HDR PQ make sure it’s set to Off.

How to configure the app to use your USB camera

  1. Open your event in the iPad app.
  2. Go to the Capture settings (middle pane)
  3. Expand Advanced Capture Settings.

    Under “USB camera,” choose:

    • Quality – for the highest-resolution frames.
    • Smooth – for the fastest frame rate.
