What's the best settings/lighting for background removal?

For the SceneSelect (AI virtual backdrop) feature, it's the lighting that can make or break this feature.

You want to make sure you not only have sufficient lighting but also some contrast. What we generally recommend is ensuring that you have at least one light source at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the camera so that there are shadows around the body/facial features to provide the necessary contrast for the feature.

Usually, the more illuminated the subject is, the better. If it's dark, our SceneSelect may have issues differentiating the subject from the backdrop, so a well-lit photo is recommended.
