Setting Limits for Prints, and how they work
In the iOS app there are two settings you can use to limit how many prints can be made.
Please read carefully before you set any print limits to make sure you understand how these limits work, because if they're not expecting it then it's not a nice experience for your guest to be told by the app that they cannot print.
Print limits only work when you add a printer to the app (your printer shows up by name in the in-event menu). They do not apply if you use foreground printing.
The 2 limits for printing you can set
You can find the print limits on the last page of the event settings in the app:

Limits don't apply when you print from the in-event menu
If you access the gallery via the in-event menu, then the print limits are not applied.
This means it's easy to set limits and then make exceptions when you want to - just open the in-event menu and access the gallery to print.
However, prints from the in-event menu still count against the maximum number of prints per event.
Max prints per Session
Shown by the green highlight in the above screenshot, you can see that guest sessions are set to a maximum of 4 prints.
Here's what this means:
- after capture, a guest can only print this many prints before hitting the "Done" button
- the "Take More" feature does not reset the count of prints per session: the counter isn't reset until the "Done" button is hit. That means that if the guest takes a photo, prints it, hits "Take More", prints another photo, hits "Take More", tries to print another photo: if your limit is 2 prints, they'll see an error as this is their third print of the session.
- in the gallery or Share Station, guests can only print each photo this many times, until the app is restarted
- this applies for this device only (if you have multiple share stations, they have their own counters against this limit)
When a guest hits this limit, this is the experience they get after they hit the Print button:
Max prints per Event
Shown by the pink highlight in the above screenshot. When you set this, here's what it means:
- all prints on all iPads/iPhones/macs are counted for this event; once the total number of prints reaches this count, no devices running this event will be able to print
- if you have multiple devices running the same event, the print count is across all devices
- restarting the app does not change anything (print counts are saved on the cloud)
- this includes prints during capture, from the gallery, and from Share Station - anywhere the app can print from
When a guest hits this limit, this is the experience they get after hitting the print button:
It's easy to change the text
