Make sure you have the newest version of the app! We released 1.52.0 at the end of April 2026, this article requires at least this version.
Using Your Device as the Camera
Use an iPhone or iPad as the camera device
We recommend using the rear camera of the iPhone
Enables high-quality recording with built-in overlay and music options
You can also connect your GoPro camera: we support GoPro Black edition series 9 and later. Make sure it has the latest firmware installed.
Using an iPad as the Share Station
Only an iPad can be used as a sharing station
This iPad will be used to send videos via text, email, or QR code
Keeps your recording device (iPhone or iPad) free to stay on the spinner while sharing happens elsewhere
This setup separates capture and sharing for faster guest flow and uninterrupted recording.
Create the Ultimate 360 Spinner Booth Experience
Set up your iPhone/iPad as the camera on the spinner. This will be the Capture Station.
If you are using a GoPro, still attach your iPhone on the spinner, so that you can use motion-detection auto-start. The motion-detection is on the iPhone, not on the GoPro!
Set up a separate iPad as the Share Station
Create a 360 Slow-mo-only event in Booth.Events
Capture epic 360 videos and share them instantly!
Setting up a 360 Slow-mo-only Event
Create event from your Web Dashboard.
To make sure auto-start can work, make sure there's only 1 template assigned to the event that can do 360 Slow-mos. You can choose what capture types a template can be used for on the template settings -> advanced page.
Launching the event on your iPhone / Capture Station
In the app, tap on the event on your Capture Station.
On the second page of event settings (capture), disable the "Looks good" screen if your iPhone is upside down because you're using its rear camera
On the middle page of event settings (Capture), disable all capture types except 360 Slow-mo.
Hit "Launch event", then hit "Customize" -> Continue -> Capture Station
Open the in-event menu and turn on auto-start (see below if you have trouble finding this)
Launching the Event on your iPad / Share Station
In the app, tap on the event on your Share Station.
Hit "Launch event", then hit "Customize" -> Continue -> Share Station
Customizing your Slowmo Timings
On the web, go to your Template, and open its Settings. You'll see the Slowmo Settings at the bottom, click that:
At the top you'll see the Recording and Output timelines:
The recording timeline gives you an understanding of what your attendant will see when the booth is recording. In the default timing example shown above, that's half a second of 1x recording then 2.5s more of 0.4x recording
You no longer set the duration of the recording in the app: it's automatic based on the timings you set here
The output timeline gives you an understanding of what the guest will see when they play their video. In the default timing example shown above, there's a really short half-second of 1x playback, then a long segment of 0.4x (slow), then there's the "bounce" where the playback reverses direction, then another long slow segment, then a short half-second of 1x playback.
In the example above you'll notice the Output timeline is more or less symmetrical: that's because Bounce is turned on:
If you turn that off, you'll see the output timeline change to this:
You might notice that the timings don't precisely match up how you'd expect them to: that's because the app is automatically adding transitions between the different speeds, to make your videos look buttery smooth and professionally edited. These transitions add small amounts of time to the output, between segments.
Finally, configure your segments how you want them:
Hit the "Add" button to add another segment
Move the Speed and Duration sliders to be what you want. Pay attention to the "Play 6.3s" text at the bottom of the slider: that tells you how long your segment will be with the settings you've chosen
The app automatically transitions the output speed between segments using a curve
If you set your speed slider to a very low setting, you'll see a warning like this:
The slower you go, the more frames-per-second (FPS) the camera must record at in order for your output video to look smooth instead of jerky.
If you're using an iPhone, make sure you are using the rear camera to go beyond 60 FPS.
In the older versions of the app you needed to manually pick the FPS the app would record at. That's no longer the case: the app will automatically pick the FPS for you. If "optimum" FPS is 60 or lower, the app will record slow-mos at 60 FPS so you need less light. If the optimum value is larger, like the example above where it is 240 FPS, then the app will record at the maximum framerate your camera can support. You'll need a lot of light for this!
Is your output video jerky? Check your camera can support the FPS required that the settings show you need
Is your output video grainy? Check you have enough light: grainy video will occur when your camera has to boost its ISO to very high levels, because there is not enough light. High FPS video needs a lot of light.
Turning on Auto-Start
Auto-start detects that your iPhone is in a spinner and the spinner has started moving. The iPhone must be on the spinner arm to detect this.
First, configure the 2 settings that determine how sensitive auto-start is and how long the delay should be between detection and the start of recording: you'll see these two settings in the "Capture" settings of the event, in the iOS app:
Then, after you have launched your event, open the in-event menu and turn on auto-start here:
Gotchas: Auto-Start
You cannot use auto-start if you have multiple templates for slow-mos assigned to your event, because the app doesn't know which one to use. Either remove the extra templates from your event, or, edit them on the web -> template settings -> advanced -> disable slow-mo capture type for the template
You cannot use auto-start if you have Data Collection set to collect data before capture
