Screenshots

On the Devices page, each device row now has a screenshot:

The app uploads a screenshot every 5 minutes, if it is online.

Remote-In and Screenshots require iOS app version 1.53.0 or newer.

Touch the screenshot to open it full-screen. At the bottom, the time of the screenshot is shown:

The screenshot feature is free and available to everyone.

Remote Control

You can view and control the app from any modern web-browser. On the Devices page, touch the '>' symbol to open the slideover:

In the slideover, touch Remote-In:

Don't see "Remote-in" ? Make sure the app version is 1.53.0 or newer.

Remote-in will open in a new browser tab and automatically start trying to connect to the device.

Cannot connect? Make sure the app is open in the foreground on the device, and that the device has internet access.

If you are connected to a restricted/work network, verify the Technical Info at the bottom of this article with your IT department.

Once connected, you'll see this:

In the main area of the app (6), you can click or touch and it will be as if you touched the app. Can't remember which device this is? (2) shows the name.

To disconnect, hit the Disconnect (5) button.

When you are using the remote in feature the iPad you are viewing will display a small pill that says "remote connected". The Settings cog will always display in the top right of the screen when remotely connected so you can exit the event and get to settings.

Onscreen Keyboard

If you have a hardware keyboard, keypresses will also be transmitted to the app. If you do not, touch the Onscreen Keyboard button (3) to make an on-screen keyboard appear on the app when a textfield is active. Since this appears on the app, your guests will see this on the app also.

In order to enter your passcode to exit the event you must use a custom password/passcode. This is an account wide setting, you can not enter your default 4 or 6 digit iPad unlock passcode remotely.

Connection Type: Direct, Mixed, or Relay

At the top-left, the connection is described by "Direct", "Mixed", or "Relay" (1). This is automatic, although is some cases a link may appear here to allow you to change the connection type if poor quality is detected.

  • Direct: data from the app is flowing directly to the browser, and data from the browser is flowing directly to the app

  • Mixed: one direction is going direct, the other is going via "Relay"

  • Relay: both directions are going over a Cloudflare-managed network (TURN)

The connection will default to Direct, which is high quality (capped at 2.5 mbps). The app will automatically use Relay mode, which is capped at 1.5 mbps, in a couple of cases:

  • the direct connection between your browser and the app is poor (packet-loss, slow etc) and the relay route is faster

  • both sides are behind firewalls such that no direct connection is possible

Drawing

To enter drawing mode, hit the Draw (4) button:

When the toggle (2) is turned on, any clicks/touches in the main app area of the remote-in window will be drawing on the app screen.

Your drawing stays on the app screen until you either hit the Clear (1) button, or, the Disconnect button. If you just close the browser tab, the drawing will persist on the app screen.

Choose the color of your drawing with (3).

You can use the drawing feature to demonstrate how things work to attendants. Here's an example of the app running on the iPad, where someone with remote-in has drawn an arrow in their browser to show the attendant where to change the music for slow-mos:

Remote-in requires a Pro+ subscription.

Technical Information

To use this feature, both the app and your browser must be able to reach:

  • stun.l.google.com on port 19302 TCP and UDP

  • turn.cloudflare.com on ports 3478 UDP or 53 UDP, and 5349 TCP or 443 TCP.

Because of limitations from Apple, you cannot leave the app while connected via Remote-In. If the app not running in the foreground then you will not be able to connect or see the screen. If you need to manage more settings of the device for a fleet of iPads, we suggest you look into an MDM solution provider.
