Photos sometimes coming out "all white" ?

Your camera settings need fixing!

Quick answer: white photos on a connected camera almost always come from camera settings. Set the camera dial to M, then in Booth.Events Camera Settings check three things: Liveview too dark? is set right for your app version, Shutter Speed is not Bulb (try 1/60), and ISO is not Auto (try 200).

Is the camera in Manual (M) mode?

Start here. Make sure the camera's mode is "M" for Manual. For example, Canon cameras have a dial on the top of the camera that should be set to M. In M mode the app can change your camera settings.

How do I open Camera Settings?

  • From the home screen: tap the Camera button near the top-left.

  • During an event: open the in-event menu and tap Camera.

Now check the settings below one by one. In this screenshot, all three problems are showing (this is bad!):

1. Is "Liveview too dark?" set correctly? (Canon R100 and cameras with Exposure Simulation)

App version 1.58.0 or later: update the app and your camera firmware, then use the Liveview too dark? setting in Camera Settings. You don't need to change Exposure Simulation on the camera. See Troubleshooting: Dark Liveview (Canon).

Older app versions: "Liveview too dark?" must be turned OFF on cameras that support exposure simulation. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn this feature OFF in our app, then close Camera Settings.

  2. Disconnect the camera by removing the USB cable.

  3. Enter the camera's menu and set "Exposure simulation" on the camera (see Troubleshooting: Dark Liveview (Canon)). Connect the USB cable after changing it.

💡 Tip: Exposure Simulation keeps turning back on? Update to app version 1.58.1 or later.

2. Is Shutter Speed set to "Bulb"?

You should never use Bulb shutter speed. Set this to 1/60 if you are not sure what to use.

3. Is ISO set to "Auto"?

Pick a fixed ISO, like 200. You don't want this changing from shot to shot.

Still washed out?

✅ Recommended: set a fixed ISO and use a flash. Make sure you are in M mode so the app can change your settings.
