Photos sometimes coming out "all white" ?

Your camera settings need fixing!

Here's how to fix the problem where sometimes the photo looks all white in the output.

This article applies to connected cameras only.

To start, make sure the camera's mode is "M" for Manual. For example, Canon cameras have a dial on the top of the camera that should be set to M.

Open Camera Settings in the Booth.Events app

If you're on the home screen of the app, tap the "Camera" button near top-left:

If you're in an event, open the in-event menu and choose the "Camera" button:

Now, check all of these one-by-one. In this screenshot, all three problems are showing (this is bad!):

(1) "Liveview too dark?" MUST be turned OFF if you are using the Canon R100, or any camera that supports exposure simulation

You cannot use this setting on cameras that support this feature themselves: you MUST enable the feature on the camera itself.

Follow these steps:

  1. Turn this feature OFF in our app, then close camera settings

  2. Disconnect the camera by removing the USB cable

  3. Enter the camera's menu, and enable "Exposure simulation" on the camera. Connect the USB cable after changing it.

Got the Canon R100 (instructions link) ? It's on page 6:

--> you want "Expo. simulation" to be Enabled if you are using flash, and Disabled if you are not using flash.

(2) Check Shutter Speed is not "Bulb"

You should never use Bulb shutter speed. Set this to 1/60 if you are not sure what to use.

(3) Check ISO is not "Auto"

Pick an ISO, like 200. You don't want this changing from shot to shot.
