You can print more than one size at the same event, for example 2x6 photo strips and 4x6 prints, or a trading card design alongside your normal prints. The app decides where each photo prints based on which templates are selected for each printer (print queue).
Before you start
Create one template for each size you want to print, at the correct size for the paper (see How to: Change Photo Layouts).
Assign all of these templates to your event.
Turn on printing in your event settings.
Have a printer or print server that can print each size. For strips cut from 4x6 paper, your printer must support 2x6 cutting.
How do I print 2x6 strips and 4x6 prints at the same event?
Start the event and add the printer. If you use a print server (for example WCM or Print.Events), add both print queues: the cutting queue for strips (for example 2-2x6 or 6x2*2, the name depends on your printer) and the regular 4x6 queue.
Tap the cutting queue to open its settings. Make sure only your 2x6 template has the blue checkmark. Tap any other template to remove its checkmark (you do not need to delete it).
In the cutting queue settings, turn on Print doubled on short side if your strip template has the design only once.
Tap the 4x6 queue to open its settings. Make sure only your 4x6 template(s) are checked, and remove the checkmark from the 2x6 template.
Do a test print of each template before your event.
Each template should be checked on only one print queue. If a template is checked on two queues, it will print round-robin to both, which usually means some strips print uncut on a full 4x6 sheet. Full details on the strip settings are in How to: Print & Cut Strips (2x6) and How to: Printer Settings.
What about direct USB printing?
With Direct USB Printing there is one printer row instead of separate queues. The paper size is detected automatically, and strips are automatically doubled and cut when 4x6 paper is loaded. In the printer settings, templates that do not fit the loaded paper are not printed. Keep the template set to Auto: Manual can give zoomed or cropped prints.
How do I make trading cards?
Trading cards are a normal template with dynamic elements (for example the guest types their name and it is added to the card). See Adding Dynamic Elements to your Templates. Make the template the same size as the paper it will print on, then route it to the right print queue as above. If the card prints slightly cut off or with a white edge, adjust the insets: see Printed Photos Being Cut off or Having a White Line on the Side.
Common questions
My strips print 4 per sheet or cut the wrong way. What happened?
Your strip template probably already has the design twice and "Print doubled" is also on. Turn off Print doubled on the print queue, or make the template a single 2x6 and leave Print doubled on.
Should I double the strip in the template or in the print queue?
We recommend using the print queue setting. That way the digital copy guests receive stays a single 2x6 strip.
My strips print on a full 4x6 sheet without being cut. Why?
The 2x6 template is still checked on your regular 4x6 queue. Open that queue's settings and remove the checkmark from the 2x6 template.
How do I stop a template from printing at all?
Make sure no printer or print queue has that template checked.
Can a strip be used for one type of capture and a 4x6 for another?
Yes. Use Capture Types per Template to control which template is used for which capture type.
