Work through these checks in order. Most problems are fixed by the first few steps.
Printer not showing up, or the "USB Printer Drivers" switch is missing?
Restart the iPad first. Power it off and then back on. If you have just updated the app or turned on the USB Printer Drivers switch, a restart is often all it needs.
Verify you have an M series processor on your device. iPads with an A-series chip (for example iPad 10th generation or an A16 iPad) cannot print over USB. This is an Apple limitation.
Verify iPad is updated to iPadOS 18.4 or newer.
Make sure the Booth.Events app is updated to the latest version from the App Store, and that you have opened the new version.
Toggle print drivers OFF for all other non Booth.Events apps, for example LumaBooth or Curator (once toggled off the device must be power cycled). Only one app can use the USB printer at a time.
Verify print driver for Booth.Events is toggled ON (Settings app, Apps, Booth.Events, "USB Printer Drivers")
Check your printer is on the supported list in Direct USB Printing. Other printers will not appear.
Connect directly to the printer to isolate the dock. If the printer appears without the hub, the hub is the problem.
Try another USB cable
Try another Dock
Does the dock have power and is it sufficient? (at least 45W of power, 60W or more is recommended, especially for HiTi printers)
Delete the Booth.Events app and reinstall it from the App Store, then sign in again.
Unplug the printer from the hub and plug it back in while the Add Printer screen is open in the app.
Printer keeps disconnecting
This is most likely your USB-C hub or the AC adapter powering it. Check the adapter is at least 45W (60W or more recommended). See Our Recommended Hardware for the hub and charger we have tested.
Common questions
It works in LumaBooth or Curator but not in Booth.Events. Why?
Only one app can use the USB printer drivers. Turn the USB printer drivers off for the other apps in the iPad Settings app, make sure it is on for Booth.Events, then power the iPad off and on again.
My booth has the printer cable built in. How do I connect it?
The printer's USB cable needs to plug into your powered USB-C hub. If you cannot reach the printer cable inside your booth, contact your booth manufacturer for advice on wiring.
I use Guac & Chips. Is that direct USB printing?
Not unless you plug the printer's USB cable into your hub. Printing through the Chips unit uses the wired network method: see Printing with PBSCO "Chips".
