You've made an AI prompt, but it isn't showing up on the iPad, or the AI Photo option won't switch on. This article walks you through connecting everything, and answers the most common AI prompt setup questions.
How do I get my AI prompt, template and event working together?
Three things must be connected: the prompt is assigned to a template, the template allows the AI Photo capture type, and the template is assigned to an event that has AI Photo turned on.
Publish your prompt. In AI Studio, click Publish. Only published prompts can be added to templates, and unpublished changes are not sent to the iPad.
Assign the prompt to your template. You do this in the template settings on the web dashboard.
Turn on the AI Photo capture type for the template. In the template editor, click Settings in the top-right corner, go to the Advanced tab, and toggle on AI Photo (AI prompt). Do not confuse it with AI Portrait, which is a different feature.
Assign the template to your event. In the Booth.Events app, select your event, tap Templates and assign the template. Assigned templates appear in the Selected tab.
Turn on AI Photo for the event. In your event's capture types (on the iPad), enable AI Photo.
For more on step 3, see How to: Capture Types per Template.
Why can't I turn on AI Photo on the iPad?
If you see a message like "to activate this feature..." or the AI Photo toggle isn't available, check that:
the template has the AI Photo capture type turned on (step 3 above), and
that template is assigned to the event (step 4 above).
AI Prompts need a Pro level event or a Pro / Pro+ subscription, plus AI credits. See the AI Credit FAQ.
Can I have regular photos and AI photos in the same event?
Yes. You can have multiple AI prompts and regular photos in one event. Use separate templates:
On your AI template, turn on AI Photo only and turn off Photo.
On your regular template, turn on Photo only.
On the event itself, enable both capture types (Photo and AI Photo).
Why don't guests see the "choose an experience" screen?
The guest flow is: tap AI Photo, choose an experience (each one shows its preview photo), take the photo, get the result.
If there is only one AI prompt available, the choice screen is skipped and that prompt is used automatically. If there is more than one, guests see the previews and pick one. If you only have one prompt, you could print a few samples to show guests before they take their photo.
Can guests choose a style, costume or scene before their photo?
Yes. Two ways:
Create a separate AI prompt for each style. Guests pick which prompt to use before they take the photo.
Use dynamic elements inside one prompt, so guests answer a short survey (for example, which prop or trophy to hold). See How To: Utilizing Booth.Bot and Adding Dynamic Elements to your Templates.
I'm using an external camera shutter. Why does it go to the choose a scene screen?
When you fire the shutter on an external camera connected to the iPad, it can currently only capture directly into a single-shot template. Choosing between several AI experiences this way doesn't work yet.
Where are my AI photos?
If a prompt is set to "Guest does not wait", the photos are delivered to the cloud gallery. On the iPad, open the gallery from the in-event menu and choose the cloud gallery, not the iPad gallery.
Common questions
Can I change the order of AI prompts or sort them by name?
The prompts gallery on the dashboard can't currently be sorted by name.
Can I limit the number of AI generations per event?
No, not currently. You can reduce credit use by limiting re-rolls.
Can I put the AI photo in one photo slot and the original photo in another?
Not currently.
Can I use "Guest does not wait" with auto print?
Not currently.
I deleted a prompt. Can I get it back?
No. Deleted prompts cannot be restored. You can add one of its earlier results as a reference image and ask Booth.Bot to build a prompt that gives a similar result.
If I duplicate an event (for example for a white label partner), are the prompts copied?
Yes. Duplicating an event copies its templates and AI prompts. AI credits are not copied: they stay with your account.
How do I remove a prompt from an event?
Unassign it from the template.
Can I test AI on an event without using another event credit?
Creating an event uses an event credit. Test your prompt in AI Studio (this uses AI credits only), then test the event in Preview mode instead of launching it. You can rename and reuse a test event until captures reach its gallery.
